2017 – The Oklahoman Names MTC the State’s Top Mid-Size Workplace
December 13, 2017

The Oklahoman has recognized Meridian Technology Center as the Top Mid-Size Workplace in Oklahoma.

This is the fourth year that Meridian has been on the Top Workplaces list. Last year, the school was fourth in its division, where it also received a special award for training.

“It’s an honor to be selected as one Oklahoma’s Top Workplaces,” said Superintendent/CEO Dr. Douglas R. Major. “The most successful companies are ones that employees believe in. The designation as the Top Mid-Size Workplace is a testament to our employees and their commitment to educate, enrich lives and secure economic futures for our district.”

The Top Workplaces designations are based solely on employee feedback. Meridian employees completed a survey that was created by WorkplaceDynamics, LLP, a leading research firm on organizational health and employee engagement. Employees were asked to evaluate the company’s direction, execution of ideas, connectedness to the organization, role satisfaction, supervision and employee benefits.

Tanya Vasso, Radiologic Technology program coordinator, said the Top Mid-Size designation is a confirmation of something she’s known for a long time.

“If you like what you do and the people you work with, it’s easy to do your best every single day,” she said. “At Tech, we aren’t just teaching students about the skills they need to be successful in their field, we’re teaching them the skills they need to be successful in life,” she said. “I know that when I’m here, I’m making a difference.”

Looking back at a nearly 27-year career at Meridian, Vasso said she believes what makes Meridian a Top Workplace is its commitment to ensure staff have the resources they need to do their job.

“Whether it’s been equipment for the classroom or professional development training for staff, Meridian’s Board of Education and administration is committed to the pursuit of excellence,” she said.

Brad Rickelman, Assistant Director of the Meridian Technology Center for Business Development, joined Meridian in 2006 and helps the school connect with entrepreneurs and small business owners.

“Meridian has always provided me the opportunity to do what it takes to increase the visibility and viability of our clients and businesses throughout our district,” he said regarding the school’s accolades. “The designation is well deserved.”
