Qualifications

Holds, at a minimum, a bachelor’s degree

 

Two years’ clinical experience in the professional discipline

 

Holds current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification and registration, or equivalent, in radiography

 

Proficient through education or experience in course development, instruction, evaluation, and academic advising

 

Must exhibit the knowledge and skills required to perform the duties and responsibilities of a radiographer

 

Must be proficient in the operation of the following equipment used in the Meridian Technology Center (MTC) Radiologic Technology Program:

Medical Imaging Equipment and Accessories

Radiographic Processing Equipment and Software

Audio/Visual Equipment

Microsoft Office and Excel

Learning Management Systems

Essential Job Functions

 

  1. Maintain course curriculum and deliver curriculum using a variety of methods for each assigned course.
  2. Develop and revise curriculum for each assigned course, in accordance with ARRT content specifications for the radiography national certification requirements, ASRT radiography curriculum, and the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education Radiologic Technology Career Framework, with assistance from the Program Coordinator.
  3. Facilitate assigned didactic courses to include: presentations, labs, assignments, testing, grading, and lesson plans.
  4. Instruct and evaluate students.
  5. Assist the Program Coordinator with revisions to education instruments: syllabi, student handbook (program’s policy and procedures), calendars, etc.
  6. Support the Program Coordinator to assure effective program operations.
  7. Maintain accurate copies of learning modules and calendars and supply students with current materials.
  8. Monitor and report student progress and assist the Program Coordinator with periodic student consultations and documentation.
  9. Maintain and submit grades and attendance records to the Program Coordinator upon course completion or specific request.
  10. Maintain student records securely and according to FERPA regulations.
  11. Advocate professional behavior and quality performance from students.
  12. Assist with student organization meetings and activities.
  13. Maintain current knowledge of discipline and educational methodologies.
  14. Maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning.
  15. Participate in program assessment and accreditation projects with the Program Coordinator.
  16. Maintain a working knowledge of clinical protocols and incorporate into lecture and laboratory practice.
  17. Make visits to clinical affiliates to observe student progress and provide hands-on instruction.
  18. Maintain a working knowledge of departmental protocols, equipment, and archiving systems at each clinical facility.
  19. Serve as a substitute, as needed.
  20. Maintain appropriate expertise and competence through continuing education and professional development.
  21. Participate in professional and trade associations.
  22. Maintain current knowledge of MTC’s Radiology Program policies and procedures.
  23. Assist in educating students and clinical affiliate personnel to the Radiology Program policies and procedures.
  24. Maintain current knowledge of JRCERT Standards.
  25. Abide by all policies and procedures adopted by the MTC Board of Education.
  26. Maintain the laboratory and classroom equipment according to manufacturers’ guidelines.
  27. Maintain laboratory manual with current and accurate information in accordance with state and federal regulations as well as the Radiology Program accreditation requirements.
  28. Utilize assigned working hours efficiently on campus or in clinical facilities and report any exceptions to the Program Coordinator.
  29. Attend meetings called by the Superintendent, Director of Instruction or the Radiologic Technology Program Coordinator.
  30. Promote MTC in a positive manner.
  31. Provide communities of interest with accurate information and appropriate contacts pertaining to school course offerings and industry services offered at MTC.
  32. Annually participate in two Business and Education Council Committee meetings, one Clinical Preceptor meeting, and any other meetings or scheduled events for the program.

  1. Perform other duties assigned by the Superintendent, Director of Instruction or the Radiologic Technology Program Coordinator

 

 

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to occasionally lift items weighing as much as 25 pounds (lead aprons, phantoms, etc.) and/or push items weighing up to 50 pounds on a cart.

Must be able to travel to various communities to visit the clinical sites and make business visits upon request.

Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in writing and orally (both in person and electronically) to fulfill coordination activities between MTC and the clinical facilities.

 

 

Work Hours:

Monday – Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Must be willing to accept a flexible work schedule as needed to meet the Radiologic Technology Program objectives and as deemed necessary by the Program Coordinator or Director of Instruction.

 

Standards of Performance

The Radiologic Technology Didactic Instructor will be evaluated on the previously listed responsibilities based on MTC’s Performance Review Guidelines.  These evaluations may determine salary increases and career advancement possibilities.
