ADULT BASIC EDUCATION/GED & HiSET PREP

Passing the high school equivalency exam is equivalent to earning a high school diploma and can open the door for students applying for a job or seeking further education. Students complete a pre-test to determine their academic levels in reading, math and language. Based on their results, students will receive group or one-on-one instruction. They can also study independently or take advantage of specific software programs to enhance learning in preparation for the GED or HiSET exam. Classes are offered at no cost. FIRST CAPITAL FILM CREW INSTITUTE

The First Capital Film Crew Institute sets the stage for Oklahoma’s film industry to flourish. In addition to filming in site-specific locations, production companies look for communities that are workforce-specific. The First Capital Film Crew Institute was developed to meet this need and provides individuals with the training and resources needed to begin or advance their careers in Oklahoma’s growing film industry. Most courses can be completed in less than a month.

INTRODUCTION TO THE FILM INDUSTRY
This course is the foundation of the First Capital Film Crew Institute training. It provides an overview of the film industry for those just beginning a film crew career or those exploring opportunities in this exciting industry. Students will become familiar with the film and television vocabulary, set equipment, film crew roles, employable soft skills, networking and other essential knowledge for a career in the film industry. Time will also be spent discussing working conditions associated with a career in the television and film industry. No previous film experience is required for this course.

It takes the right equipment and the proper lighting to set a perfect scene. The Grip and Electric short course prepares individuals to create environments that frame the storyline. HAIRSTYLIST
Hairstylists are a critical part of the television and film industry. Their work helps viewers see actors as the characters they portray rather than themselves. To do this, stylists need to understand the director's vision and the intention of the screenwriter. The Hairstylist course covers creating period hairstyles, techniques in wig making, cutting and extensions, and special effects. Students will also learn how to create character designs based on the script, design and apply wigs, beards and other hair accessories and work with the film crew to ensure the character seamlessly moves from one scene to the next. Participants must hold an Oklahoma Board of Cosmetology License, or must be a student in a Cosmetology course in order to enroll in this class.

MAKEUP ARTIST SPONSORED BY MARLOHAUS
Makeup artists play a vital role in helping directors and writers tell a story. Using traditional makeup, facial hair, and even prosthetics, makeup artists are responsible for developing and maintaining the continuity of a character’s look throughout a production. This course will teach students how to research the right materials and apply as indicated by lighting and requirements given to them by the production. They must coordinate with other departments to create cohesive looks for the actors and assist the actors in removing the makeup at the end of the day. Due to class size limitations, participants may be asked to submit photos of their work when applying for this course. Participants must hold an Oklahoma Board of Cosmetology License, or must be a student in a Cosmetology or Esthetician course in order to enroll in this class.

A film's set builds the world around the actors. It provides a backdrop for the plot and gives viewers a sense of emersion in the storyline. With that, set construction is critical to creating each scene. In this course, students will learn the fundamentals of what it takes to build a television or film set. This includes learning set construction terminology, set etiquette, safety as it pertains to the film industry and working with specific set construction equipment.
