Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) play an important role in the health care field, as the people who most often deal directly with patients on a day-to-day basis. From taking care of the needs of the patient to conveying any problems and discomforts to their supervisory nurses and doctors, the LPN frequently serves as the chief communicator for patients.
Meridian’s Practical Nursing program uses an online learning management system that allows the curriculum to be available to the student 24 hours/day. The curriculum is divided into nine theory courses and four clinical courses of instruction. Each course has objectives you’ll need to achieve before moving to the next course of instruction. In addition to mastering classroom theory, you’ll spend time in a variety of clinical settings honing your skills.
The practical nursing program is available Monday through Friday. The classroom opens at 7:30 a.m. each weekday. Evening hours Monday through Thursday will vary depending on instructor availability. The program will be completed in approximately 12 months. Upon successful completion of the program, graduates may apply to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses. Once licensed, you’ll be ready for work in hospitals, home health, doctor’s offices, long-term care facilities, and various health care agencies.

Application Orientation and Written Communications Skills Assessment/Interview
All applicants must attend an application orientation. The application orientation will provide information so the applicant can better understand the program and what it takes to complete the Practical Nursing Program successfully. The application orientation session will also include a time for each prospective applicant to complete a written communications skills assessment/interview form.

Entrance Exam – HESI A2©
All applicants must complete or submit scores of HESI A2© completed within the past three years. Applicants may take twice for each application(March – June) or (September – December). At this time the practical nursing program at Meridian Technology Center does not require a specific score to make application to the program. Points will be awarded for the scores you receive on each section. See points on PN Application Pts. Sheet.
Oklahoma Board of Nursing Important Information
Oklahoma Board of Nursing special requirements for licensing.
The Oklahoma Board of Nursing has the right, as a state licensing agency, to deny students the opportunity to take the licensing examination if they have been charged, have a pending conviction, or have been convicted of a crime which includes a felony, gross misdemeanor, or misdemeanor; or have any violations related to alcohol/or drugs. Advanced Placement/Transfer Credit
Individuals desiring to receive credit for knowledge previously gained may qualify for advanced standing. Please contact the program coordinator for information regarding the program advanced standing policy.
Once Accepted
Students must provide evidence of good health by submitting the Meridian Technology Center “Physical Examination Form,” which has been completed and signed by a physician or other licensed healthcare provider. Students must not have any physical restriction that would prohibit them from performing the duties expected of a healthcare worker providing patient care:
Students must submit evidence of current immunizations as directed; as well as current CPR certification. The CPR certification must be American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS). Immunizations and CPR certification must remain current for the entire program.
Tuition and other expenses are subject to change. Students will provide their own transportation to the clinical education sites in various communities three to five days per week. Travel expense is probably the largest expense students will encounter.
