Fiber Optic Installation and Maintenance Technician Training

Meridian is excited to offer an intensive training program in the growing industry of fiber optic installation and maintenance.  Participants in the five-day bootcamp gain hands-on experience with industry-standard equipment and learn key skills including fiber splicing, fiber testing and installation techniques.

 The program is facilitated by Learning Alliance Corporation, an industry leader whose expertise and resources ensure participants receive high-quality, practical training that meets industry standards.

Overview of the program:

The key topics that will be covered are as follows:

• Fiber Optics Fundamentals: Theory, components, applications, and safety standards.
• Fiber Splicing: Fusion and mechanical splicing techniques, hands-on practice, and theory.
• Fiber Testing: OTDR principles, fault location, and hands-on testing.
• Outside Plant (OSP) Fiber Optics: Installation techniques, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Advanced Topics: Fiber enclosures, cable management, advanced testing, and troubleshooting.

Course Structure:

• Theoretical sessions: In-depth explanations and demonstrations.
• Hands-on workshops: Practical exercises using industry-standard equipment.
• Group projects: Collaborative tasks to simulate real-world scenarios.

Learning Outcomes:

• Understand the principles of fiber optic technology.
• Perform accurate fiber splicing techniques.
• Master fiber testing procedures using OTDRs and other tools.
• Install and maintain fiber optic networks, both indoor and outdoor.
• Troubleshoot common fiber optic issues effectively.
