  • Meridian’s mission is to educate, enrich lives and secure economic futures.
  • Meridian offers courses in the following areas: Full-Time Career Training Programs, Personal and Professional Development Short Courses, and Workforce and Economic Development including customized training and entrepreneurial services.
  • Meridian is part of a network of 29 Career and Technology Education centers across the state on 56 technology campuses. Collectively we support programs in 400 school districts, 13 skills centers located in prisons and three juvenile facilities.
  • Meridian began as Indian Meridian Area Vocational-Technical School in July 1973. In August of 1975, classes began with 13 daytime programs and staff of approximately 30. In 1994, the school was renamed Meridian Technology Center.
  • Dr. Douglas R. Major has served as Meridian’s Superintendent/CEO since November 2008.
  • A five-member Board of Education governs the school. Board members live in and represent the district they serve.
  • The Meridian Technology Center district covers parts of Lincoln, Logan, Noble, Pawnee and Payne counties, encompassing more than 900 square miles. The district includes residents in communities served by Agra, Carney, Glencoe, Guthrie, Morrison, Mulhall-Orlando, Pawnee, Perkins-Tryon, Perry and Stillwater. Meridian has two campuses: the Main Campus in Stillwater and the South Campus in Guthrie.
  • From cabinetmaking to ceramic tile, floral design to first aid, and Excel to editing photos, Meridian offers nearly 100 Short Courses each semester, year-round.
  • In the area of business solutions Meridian offers customized training services through the Workforce and Economic Development team that includes computer training, health care training, leadership and staff development, safety training and industrial training; and business and entrepreneurial services through the Center for Business Development on the Main Campus and the Peak at the South Campus that include business incubation, consulting, advice on how to start a business, business plan development and networking.
  • Meridian is governed by the State Department of Career and Technology Education (CareerTech). Oklahoma’s CareerTech agency is governed by the State Board of Career and Technology Education and works closely with the State Department of Education and the State Regents for Higher Education.
  • Oklahoma CareerTech graduates annually add $3.5 billion to the state’s economy, according to a RegionTrack study, a nationally recognized economic forecasting company. The direct benefits are 10 times the direct costs to deliver training to those who complete CareerTech programs, the study revealed.
  • Meridian Technology Center is accredited through the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education (ODCTE). ODCTE is the accrediting body for all technology centers in Oklahoma.
