The costuming department in the film industry is responsible for designing, creating, and maintaining costumes that reflect a film’s characters, setting, and overall tone. Costumers works closely with the director, production designer, and actors to ensure the costumes align with the script’s narrative and character development.

Learn how to break down a script and use costume design as a tool for character development. Using a short film script, explore how to analyze the text, understand the characters, and make creative wardrobe decisions. This course will also cover important distinctions and practical considerations between wardrobe, props, makeup, and special effects (SFX), including handling blood, water, and other non-obvious costume changes.
