Practical Nursing Application Orientation

  • All applicants must attend an application orientation. The application orientation will provide information so the applicant can better understand the program and what it takes to complete the Practical Nursing Program successfully. The application orientation session will also include a time for each prospective applicant to complete a written communications skills assessment/interview form. Sessions for the January 6, 2024 application deadline are listed below. Sign up and schedule an appointment for the mandatory application orientation session and written communications skills assessment/interview form. Choose only one date and time. The orientation and written communications skills assessment are scheduled together.

    Applicants must show proof of completion of the following pre-requisite courses within the past 5 years with a grade of C or higher
    • Medical Math – with application (exempt if ACT Math Score is 19 or higher or HESI A2 Math Score is 80% or higher/College Algebra is not a substitute)
    • Anatomy & Physiology – before starting (Course on Ed2Go is not equivalent)
    • Medical Terminology – before starting (Ed2Go equivalent will require completing both “Medical Terminology: A Word Association Approach” and “Medical Terminology II: A Focus on Human Disease”)
    Challenge exams available. Please contact the program coordinator for information. Meridian offers online training in Medical Math Basics, Medical Terminology, and Anatomy and Physiology. To enroll in these courses, please call the Health Occupations desk at (405) 377-3333 ext 209 or 211.

    Applicants must show proof of the following pre-requisite before starting
    • Long Term Care Aide with current CNA Certification or equivalent. Equivalent requires proof of working as a CNA for at least 75 hours in the last 6 months.
