Organizations
CareerTech Student Organizations (CTSOs) are designed to complement the career training programs offered at Tech. Meridian believes so much in CTSOs that the school will pay membership for one CTSO that is associated with your program. As a member, you’ll have opportunities to expand your leadership skills, connect with other students in similar career paths and meet professionals in your field.
What Members Do
As a member of a CTSO you’ll have the chance to:
- Participate in chapter meetings
- Compete in skills competitions for scholarships and prizes
- Contribute to the community through service projects
- Develop leadership and teamwork skills
CTSOs at Meridian
Everyone is eligible to join a student organization, and you can get involved as a first-year student at Meridian! Students in some programs can even belong to more than one CTSO. Want to know what CTSO you should join? Here’s a breakdown based on your program:
Business Professionals of America (BPA) serves students enrolled in Business Technology, Digital Media, Health Informatics and Information Technology.
FCCLA serves students in Culinary Arts.
HOSA serves Biomedical Sciences – STEM Academy, Health Careers, Health Informatics, Pharmacy Technician, Practical Nursing and Radiologic Technology students.
SkillsUSA members include students from Air Conditioning and Refrigeration, Automotive Technology, Carpentry, Collision Repair Technology, Computer Aided Drafting, Criminal Justice, Culinary Arts, Electrical Technology, Information Technology, Pre-Engineering – STEM Academy, Precision Metal Fabrication, Product Development and Machining, and Welding.
National Technical Honor Society
Students who are members of their CTSO and who maintain a 3.5 or higher GPA may be invited to join the National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) at Meridian Technology Center upon the recommendation of their instructor. This is a prestigious honor, and each year we’re thrilled to have so many students meet the criteria.
MTC Leadership Class
We believe that leadership development is not a single event but a process developed over time. The Leadership Class is a program designed to develop school and community leaders as well as ambassadors for Meridian Technology Center.
The MTC Leadership Class is a student leadership program comprised of morning and afternoon officers from each of the school’s CareerTech Student Organizations (CTSOs). Leadership Class activities take place throughout the school year to build leadership and teamwork skills.
In addition to having fun getting to know fellow CTSO members, Leadership Class participants can expect to:
- Foster an understanding of their roles as student organization officers
- Take part in leadership and teamwork building activities
- Develop presentation techniques
- Volunteer in the community
- Meet legislators, community and school leaders
- Assist with special events at Meridian
