Every student who walks through the doors of Meridian Technology Center benefits from the guidance of a dedicated team of school board members. This January, Meridian joins schools across Oklahoma to celebrate School Board Recognition Month and honor these unsung education heroes.
Meridian’s Board of Education includes Sherri Huneycutt (President), Lorrie Janzen (Vice President), Brett Enmeier (Clerk), Gaye Lynn Chaney (Deputy Clerk), and Randy Kellogg (Member). Together, they shape policies that provide students with innovative learning opportunities to prepare them for successful futures.
“Our board members bring vision, dedication, and heart to their roles,” said Dr. Douglas Major, Superintendent/CEO of Meridian Technology Center. “Their work directly impacts the success of our students, staff, and the community as a whole.”
The school’s district covers parts of Lincoln, Logan, Noble, Pawnee and Payne counties. The district encompasses more than 900 square miles. Meridian serves ten partner schools: Agra, Carney, Glencoe, Guthrie, Morrison, Mulhall-Orlando, Pawnee, Perkins-Tryon, Perry and Stillwater.
Board members at Meridian navigate complex educational issues, advocate for resources, and support innovative programs that help students achieve their goals.
“It is so rewarding to hear and see about so many student successes, both high school and adult students,” said Sherri Huneycutt, Board President. “It is also amazing to see instructors who are so passionate about their teaching profession and helping students learn and succeed. Lives are enriched and futures secured.”
Meridian encourages community members to celebrate School Board Recognition Month by sharing notes of thanks or messages on social media.
