Receiving feedback is crucial … and also extremely challenging. Thankfully, authors Douglas Stone and Sheila Heen have found a way to simplify this process.
On August 9, as part of the Lunchtime Learning series co-sponsored by the Stillwater Chamber of Commerce and Meridian Technology Center, Amie Haar will present the authors’ findings in her session, “Thanks for the Feedback: The Science & Art of Receiving Feedback Well.”
Based on the book by the same name, this interactive session will offer a simple framework and powerful tools to help you take on life’s blizzard of offhand comments, annual evaluations and unsolicited input, all with curiosity and grace. Haar will focus on three common triggers that hinder our acceptance of feedback and explore practical strategies you can utilize to be more receptive to feedback in the future. Attendees will also learn how to solicit input from others and test out their advice quickly.
Haar is passionate about many things, including her faith, family, the power of a good belly laugh, and how the world can thrive through education, especially when it comes to ourselves. She believes strongly in helping others find their true purpose through individual coaching, team facilitation, or large group training, specializing in communication, relationship building, and presence. As a nationally certified Gallup Strengths Coach, Haar comes alongside and teaches others how to best show up for themselves and those around them.
Lunchtime Learning sessions are held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Meridian’s campus. Registration is $20 per session and includes lunch.
